If you’ve downloaded and you’re a little confused about what’s going on, or you just like to be prepared before you launch into a new gaming experience, this article is designed to give you a basic overview of what Planet Surfer is all about.
The aim of the game
Your job is pretty simple on the face of it – all you need to do is tap the screen to launch your character (could be a rocket ship or spaceman) from one planet and onto another. Every time you successfully land on a planet you get a point, but if you fail to do so, you start over.
While you are on a particular planet, you spin around it quite quickly, depending on how far you have progressed in the game/ The further you go, the faster you’ll spin. The aim of the game is essentially to tap the screen when you are lined up with your destination planet.
How do you know which planet to shoot for?
There are always multiple planets in view and part of the game is identifying which is the right one to travel to as quickly as possible. When you land on a planet, it will often change colour. You need to take note of this and shoot for the planet in your range that has the same colour.
This sounds pretty easy right? Well when you progress further, the game speeds up considerably and it’s likely that aiming for the wrong planet – rather than missing the target planet – is what ends your game. Red and orange for instance can look similar when things are moving at a mile a minute.
There are a few aspects of the game that make things more tricky down the line. For one, there are often obstacles between you and your target planet, which means that finding your chance to tap and make it through becomes smaller and smaller as you progress. These include small and larger spaceships that glide through the area at unpredictable speeds. There is also the fact that the target planet begins to shrink at an increased rate as you go on in the game, if it shrinks to nothing – game over.
You can imagine how things quickly get hectic and quite intense with all these difficulties. If you need some further tips, check out our article on advanced hints and strategies.
